Woolwich killer, Michael Adebowale, is the son of a probation officer

The mother of a suspected Islamic terrorist who allegedly hacked a British soldier to death tried desperately to turn him away from extremism but “could not get through”, according to friends.

Michael Adebowale, the 22-year-old son of a Christian probation officer and a member of staff at the Nigerian High Commission, was filmed holding a bloodied cleaver in his hand after Drummer Lee Rigby was butchered in a London street. Friends said he had been a “lovely boy” but became involved in some “serious trouble” as a teenager and then turned to Islam. He started mixing with some “bad people” and became increasingly extreme in his views.

His mother Juliet Obasuyi, a 43-year-old probation officer, went to her friend and neighbour, a 62-year-old security officer, for help about nine months ago after her son dropped out of university.

She told him: “Michael is not listening any more. His older sister is a good Christian with a degree but Michael is rebelling as he has no father figure, dropping out of university and handing out leaflets in Woolwich town centre.

“He is from a strong Christian family but he is turning to Islam and turning against the family. He is preaching in the streets. He needs spiritual guidance before he radicalises himself.”

Another friend, Steve Adebiyi, who started a company with Mrs Obasuyi, said she was often left in tears after speaking to him on the phone. “The boy was giving the mother problems,” he said. “She said he was in with some bad group and causing a lot of trouble. They brainwashed him.”

He and Michael Adebolajo, the other suspected terrorist, are thought to have met at Greenwich University.

His mother was advised by a neighbour to take him to the head of the Woolwich mosque for spiritual guidance. He was converted to Islam by the head Imam, and taken for weeks of “further training” at a centre near Cambridge.

When he returned, however, he was even more “radicalised” and his mother could no longer “get through to him”. A spokesman for the mosque said they did not know if he attended or been converted there.

She subsequently returned to Nigeria, where she is pursuing a career in politics.

Neighbours in Greenwich said he had been a “lovely boy” who was a keen Manchester United fan, but as a teenager became “angry at a lot of things”.

Magdalene Edwards told Channel 4 News: “He was a lovely boy. Very gentle natured, very respectful to elderly people.

“He was angry at a lot of things like a lot of young people are. About a year ago is when I saw him with this whole Muslim dress.

“I said to him are you a Muslim. And he said yes, he’s gone that way now. I said just be careful, I’m aware that there are some that ride on the coat tales of Islam and they’re really not serving their cause.”

Adebowale’s father, Adeniyi, was born in Nigeria but came to Britain to study at Canterbury University. He and Mrs Obasuyi had a child, Michael, but subsequently split up.

His mother married twice but is now understood to be single. She also started a small fashion business. She raised Adebowale in Woolwich and Greenwich along with his half sister.

Adebowale attended Kidbrooke School in Greenwich, where friends said he was a “normal, smiling teenager”. Luqman Ciise, one of his schoolmates, said: “I knew him personally, he was normal, smiling all the time. His name was Toby… Still can’t believe this.”

According to a friend he and his girlfriend, a fellow convert, became well-known in south-east London for handing out extremist leaflets.

Adebowale’s father now works for the Nigerian High Commission in a flat just yards froim Holloway prison in North London. His flat was raided on Thursday morning.

A neighbour said: “He has lived here for at least ten years. He is a very smart and polite man, who is known to everyone as Niyi. On Thursday morning I was woken up by the sound of banging and shouts of ‘armed police’. I looked out and police were running into Niyi’s flat.

“I then heard them shout ‘No firearms and No drugs’. I have got no idea what happened to Niyi, but I haven’t seen him since.

“It came as a big shock because he is a professional man who works at the Nigerian High Commission. He leaves everyday in a collar and tie and does not get home until about 8pm.”

“My next script is a gay movie, there’s a big market for the type of fims I do” – Afrocandy

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 25, 2013 by asotechm

In a bare-it-all interview with PUNCH Newspapers, controversial actress Judith Opara-Mazagwu, spoke about her newest work, Destructive Instinct, which had landed her in the media mainstream and what her future plans are.

Excerpts:

Any special reason you chose the name, AfroCandy?

I chose the name because guys call me ‘Eye Candy’. And I figured, if I’m an eye candy and I’m African, I should be an AfroCandy.

Did you do a boob job or are your breasts natural?

No, I did not do any boob job. My boobs are all mine, naturally made and given to me by my creator.

Why did you go into pornographic movies?

I’m not into pornography. I’ll say this over and over. The fact that I chose to make romance and sex scenes in my movies real should not make me a porn star. Now tell me, would you call the actors that play assassin and killer roles in movies murderers because they play such roles? Why are eyebrows being raised over this my movie? Or, is it because it has to do with sex, which is supposed to be a way of life? I find that to be sexist honestly. You can call me daring, brave, bold and beautiful. And I will like you to tell me what you call movies like ‘Basic Instinct, ‘I spit on your grave’ and the likes of them. And I’ll also like you to tell me what you may call actors like Sharon Stone, Hally Berry and co for taking similar roles in those movies before I can answer you directly.

Is there a market for pornographic movies in Nigeria?

Yes, there’s definitely a big market for my kind of movies in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, judging from the responses, requests and orders I have received so far. You already know your people, they will criticise in public but go behind to buy it and hide in their bedrooms to watch it. I’m not worried about the censors board, we got that locked down.

Have you settled issues with the guy who acted in your movie, ‘Destructive Instinct,’ and wanted to pull out?

Yes, we have settled the matter and are moving on.

What was the contract like?

I wouldn’t want to go into the details; but the bottom line is, the case has been closed and we are on to the next one.

Was the guy aware that he was going to feature in a porn movie?

Yes, he was. And again, not a porn movie, but he knew he was going to get naked in the movie and he willingly did it.

Why did he want to pull out?

It’s a long story and I think I already addressed that already in one of my interviews.

How do you deal with advances from men?

I don’t deal with that at all.

What is your impression about gays?

My impression about them is, they are mostly adults, they know what is right and what is wrong and choose to do what is best for them. I guess they know what they want and what they want to do with their lives. So it’s normal.

Would you act in a gay movie?

Yes, I will. Matter of fact, I have a script for that and I guess that doesn’t make me gay now, right?

Which part of your body turns guys on the most?

Ha ha ha…thats’a very funny question, but how would I even know that? I guess you should conduct a wide search for that and maybe ask the guys for that.

Uche Ogbodo has reportedly turned down your offer to feature in a porn movie. Who will you invite to replace her?

I never even spoke to her yet, only made an announcement for an up and coming production. But I have worked with bigger and better actors and will always do; so that’s not important now.

How many films have you acted in and produced so far?

As many as possible.

Where are you from? What is your educational background?

I am from Imo State in Nigeria. As per education, I am a graduate with two associate degrees in office administration and computer science; a Bachelor’s degree in business management and a graduate in medical billing and coding. I’m also getting ready to go back to school to study law.

Have Cossy Orjiakor and Anita Joseph accepted your offer?

I wouldn’t like to disclose that, but I’ll keep you posted.

How do your daughters feel about your roles in porn movies?

I may be their mother because I brought them into the world. I may have the privilege to raise them up to adult age. But you know, I cannot tell them what to do or follow at a certain age. Besides, they are Americans who have their own minds. If they graduate from college and decide to follow my footsteps, it’s their own calling. If I can predict, they wouldn’t want to do what I do because they have better opportunities and better futures than mine. All I do now is to secure a better future for them so they don’t have to go through what I went through in my life time. Mind you, I tell my daughters everything I do. I even told them about this project, the nature of it, but I could not show them because they are not up to 18 yet. I just had to prepare them in case they run into it on the Internet, they won’t be shocked. So don’t worry about my daughters, they are the best children any mother could ever ask for and I thank God for the gift.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 25, 2013 by asotechm

Give him a break, he’s 75…:-). The actor was caught sleeping on live TV during an interview with Fox News promoting his latest movie ‘Now You See Me’ with fellow actor Michael Caine, 80.

Michael Caine was answering a question when Morgan Freeman fell into a deep sleep…but woke up moments later and fully joined the early morning interview.

After the video went viral, Morgan released a statement to E! News saying:

I wasn’t actually sleeping, I’m a beta tester for Google Eyelids. I was merely updating my Facebook page.

LMAO! Nice comeback! He was actually sleeping, the statement is just a play off of Google Glass, a device which is supposed to allow users to update their social networks through a pair of glasses and access the internet through voice commands.

How I Was Scammed By A Jamb Official (MUST READ)

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on May 21, 2013 by asotechm

UNEDITED:

My name is Cynthia Joseph, am 17 years old and i would like to share my jamb story with you guys, so other people will not be deceived as i was deceived

I wrote jamb last year while i was still in ss3 and i got 204, i was just testing my ability so i did not take the jamb serious when my dad saw the result he said wow.. am sure my baby would make 250 next year.

This year jamb exam was to hold on April but due to the fact that i was at home after my waec i have started reading and preparing for jamb since December 2012, My course is economics and i was sitting for maths, English, commerce and economics. I read my commerce and economics text book 6 times before the jamb examination. And i attended jamb lessons to support myself in english and maths.

A day to the exam i was very confident that i would murder all the questions that will come out in jamb and yes i did but to my greatest disappointment i go 182. I checked my result in 3 cyber-cafe because it was so hard for me to believe it was my result, i cried and cried but the crying did not change anything.
My parents were not disappointed they were just surprised that i got that score but they said its God’s doing that i should wait for next year.. That was the saddest sentence i have ever heard in my life.
When my neighbor check his own he scored 215, he was so shocked he thought jamb made a mistake but what made him believe it was his result was because he used CHOKES.

The night before the exam we were all seated in our compound so he told me that he will not sleep tonight, i asked why and he said he his waiting for chokes i laughed and said ‘do you know that Jamb is the only examination that the answers don’t get leaked?’ I was wrong.. Out of curiosity i stayed with him so i could see the answers he was expecting, by 11pm he got English, by 2am commerce and economics entered.. He said maths was going to leak by 8am in the morning.

He had a very bad handwriting so I helped him copied all the prepared answers from his cell phone to a small piece of paper when i finished i advised him not to use it that it might be wrong and how will he know that the paper types will correspond? he replied by saying ‘na today’ He told me to copy my own down so we can use it together i declined.

If i only i could see the future i would have accepted his offer and use the prepared answers.

Two weeks after the examination i came across a website http://www.upgradejamb.blogspot.com/ When i saw the website i was shocked and i showed it to my elder brother who was a graduate he discouraged me to forget about the site, that it is against the law, he went further saying if i get caught i will spend some years in jail, but i laughed it off

I read all what was written on the website and it was so perfect that i believed every word that was written there, So i called the phone number and a guy picked it up, i told him that i saw his number on a jamb site and that i will like to upgrade my jamb score from 182 to 205, he said that’s not a problem and he would help me do it in 5 hours after payment. he requested for my jamb details which i sent and he told me that when i pay the money i should call him..

I was kinda happy and i decided not to tell my parents, i will use the upgraded result as a surprise to them, i brought out all my savings it was 3,500 naira i could put together so i lied to my elder bother that i want to learn how to type and the typist requested for 1,500 naira. he gave it to me immediately and said after i learn it i will be more useful to him and i will have something doing.

The next day i headed to the bank and i payed the sum of 5,000 naira into his account Account Name: Kingsley Imoh
Account Number: 0043751340
I called him and he said he got an alert that after 5hours i should go and re-print my result. Unfortunately when i went to the cyber cafe i was told my jamb card has been used many times that i need to get a new jamb card, i was sad because i don’t know where to get the money. Actually the man selling jamb stuffs is my church member so i went to get the card on credit with the belief that when my parent see the result they will be very happy and they would pay for the card.

But to my greatest surprise i checked my result and nothing changed i waited for the next day checked again and i still saw my same score.. i called him and he did not picked, i sent him messages he replied saying its a database complication that i should wait for an hour and check back, i waited for two hours and checked but i still saw the jamb score, i called him but his phone was not reachable . Till now his phone is not reachable it was that moment i realized i have been scammed. I took the courage and i told my parents what happened. i showed the the website and they said its not my fault that even if they were the one they would fall for it. So they paid for the jamb card and enrolled me into a computer school and i apologized to my elder bro for lying to him.

Its not like i want a refund or something. I just want people to know that this upgrading stuff is not real and i wish someone can caught the owner of that site and lock him up cause i believe i am not his only victim and i will not be his last.

Thanks for reading and you all can ask me any questions you like but no insults please. check out the website http://www.upgradejamb.blogspot.com/
And see if you won’t fall for it.

How I Was Kidnapped By A Club Girl In Ikeja- Victim Narrates Story

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 19, 2013 by asotechm

Male readers should read this and learn from it.

A 28-year-old man, Ayodele Olaoye, who was allegedly kidnapped by a lady, Esther Phillips, he met at a Club in Opebi, Lagos, has narrated his ordeal before an Ikeja High Court.

Esther was said to have conspired with six others to commit the alleged offence. The other suspects are Patricia Nna, Kingsley Okonwa, Osita Adigwe, Uzochukwu Ezioha, Jude Sunday and Michael Olarenwaju, who are being prosecuted by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The seven defendants who were arraigned on March 5 are facing a five-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and neglect to prevent felony.

Led in evidence by Mr Ade Ipaye, Attorney General of Lagos State and Commissioner for Justice, Olaoye  said he had taken the accused to bed twice since they met in February 2012 and they became friends.
Olaoye, who said he came back into the country in December 2011, after his graduation from a university in England, said the first defendant gave her name as Jenny and claimed to be a student of Lagos State University, LASU.

Olaoye who was testifying at the trial of the seven kidnap suspects before Justice Olabisi Akinlade, said on April 22, 2012, at about 4 p.m, which was on a Sunday, the first defendant asked him to follow her to her hostel in LASU and he agreed because he trusted her.

How I was kidnapped

Olaoye said he drove his Nissan Muranno SUV  and picked Philips up at a first generation bank in Opebi and they moved towards LASU with Phillips giving the directions that he should go and pick her friend, the second defendant, whom he said gave her name as Juliet.

He said after they had  picked up Nna, the second defendant at Dopemu, Philips told him that the lady was her school mate.

According to him, after driving for sometime, they told me to stop at an isolated place because they were pressed, adding that immediately he stopped the car, three men, Okonwa, Adigwe and Ezioha, entered his car through the back door.

He said the defendants who  were armed with a battle axe and knives dragged him to the back seat and took his mobile phone, wrist watch, necklace and money.

Olaoye said he was tied up, blindfolded and taken to an unknown destination by the first to fifth accused persons who  told him to cooperate or they would kill him, adding that they took his phone and called his mum first to inform her that he was in a cage.

The ransom

The plaintiff said after speaking with his mum, they also called his father and told him that he was in a cage and demanded a ransom of $400,000.
He said Phillips specifically told him to try and convince his parents to pay the money or the guys would kill him.

Olaoye  said he was incarcerated for four days, adding that the defendants collected  N5 million ransom from his parents.

According to him, his father, Mr Segun Olaoye, paid N5 million to them which they shared among themselves.

My escape

He said it was while they were sharing the money that he was able to sneak out of the house where he was being held and took a motorcycle to his  father’s office in Gowon Estate in Iyana-Ipaja.

After which he wrote a statement at the Police station but he couldn’t remember the exact date or the particular police station.

However, the matter has been adjourned.
